About Beth Mercurio

Through executive coaching and custom leadership development programs, I help clients gain clarity on areas of challenge and possibility and chart a path to action and results.

I have over 20 years of leadership experience in innovation, business operations, and strategic planning for both B2C and B2B organizations. Most notably, I worked in marketing at Gillette and then led strategy, marketing, and innovation for a 3rd generation family-owned plumbing manufacturer. I also developed and led a SAAS-model startup technology business. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment where failing forward and having a learning mindset were critical to success.

I hold my MBA from Babson’s FW Olin Graduate School of Business and have studied at the Strozzi Institute for Embodied Transformation.

I live in Hingham, Massachusetts with my husband, two children and an adorable pup. I love hiking, running, yoga, spending time on the water and connecting with family and friends.

about Mercurio Connect

Purpose

To connect people to themselves and the people they interact with so that they can thrive and have more meaningful and enjoyable lives. Enjoy the journey – don’t just focus on the destination!

Way

To create space for and help people understand the value of listening, reflecting, connecting and taking action towards the things that matter the most to them.

Impact

When people are deeply connected to themselves and others, we can move towards shared understanding and aligned action, enhancing our lives and the world around us.

The “Let’s Thrive” Framework

I believe that there is a simple approach that can help leaders and teams to thrive. The very first step is to slow down and create space.

In this spaciousness we are able to listen – really listen. This can be listening to ourselves or our team or others around us. We often are moving so fast that we don’t even hear our own inner voices – these voices or physical sensations are very wise and deserve our attention. From there we get intentional about stepping onto the balcony to zoom out so that we can reflect on what we are learning from our internal and external wisdom. Now we connect the dots, we take the wisdom and the learning to chart a path (often new), create a strategy and develop an action plan. Lastly, we act in accordance with this plan and we hold ourselves accountable to the commitments we make to ourselves and others. It is these shifts that transform leaders and teams and allow them to thrive.

1. Listen

  • Am I able to listen mindfully? Am I fully present and not distracted?
  • Am I listening to my inner voice?  Do I even know I have one?
  • Am I listening to my body?  What is it telling me through sensations?
  • If I listen to myself, can I identify my fears/concerns/wants?
  • What happens when I listen from a place of spaciousness and presence?
v

2. Reflect

  • What wisdom do I have from listening?
  • What do I want/wish for?
  • What has been a barrier to getting what I want?
  • What is most important to me, right now? Are my actions aligned with this answer?
  • What are my values?
  • What is my role in this?

3. Connect

  • What would it look like if I had what I want?
  • What is the future that I want – can I describe it?
  • What choices do I have? List out the options – what is possible?
  • What are the few things that matter most – where should I focus my energy – I cannot do everything – I can do anything I choose to put my energy towards.

4. Act

Once you have taken the time to listen, reflect and connect, you can create a purposeful action plan. MercurioConnect will co-create action plans that are focused and in accordance with what matters most to ensure that you achieve the results you want. We will also create a structure of accountability around these actions. We will think about the tools and the people that can be put in place to evaluate and re-evaluate the action plan.

If we are not experiencing success and feeling energized, then we will go back to the framework to understand where we may need to lean in more. Is there additional listening that is needed? Have we taken the time to reflect and assess? Are we still connected to ourselves and others? This is an iterative process – a journey that is not necessarily a straight path, but it is unquestionably a path forward.
